The Bournemouth Red Arrows Association

The Bournemouth Red Arrows Association was formed in October 1994 with the primary objective of ensuring that the most prestigious aerobatic team in the world should continue to come to Bournemouth on an annual basis and we are proud that the efforts of a very small band of volunteers has enabled us to turn this annual event to perhaps the highest profile daytime event in the town’s calendar. From 1998 to 2007 inclusive,  we secured the financial backing of local business people to meet the costs of the displays and those backers were invited to nominate charities of their choice to benefit from our efforts.

In 2007, Bournemouth Borough Council announced ambitious plans to stage a four day Air Festival at the end of August, with plans to have the Red Arrows display on three of those days. BRAA worked closely with the Council during the planning stages and managed to raise money for local charities at the same time.

Bournemouth Borough Council has staged the Air Festival ever since and BRAA reamins hand to help facilitate the event in any way we can. We will also continue to explore opportunities to raise money for charities. To date, BRAA has raised over £160,000 for charities, 95% of which has helped local causes. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Our sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the Red Arrows pilot who died today,

8th November 2011, at RAF Scampton

and, of course, the  Red Arrows team itself.
