In The Beginning

In 1994, there were insufficient civic funds to pay for the RAF's famous aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows, to display over Bournemouth during Carnival Week.

So, a small, but dedicated group of Red Arrows enthusiasts decided to get together and form the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association. Our main purpose was to raise the funding, through local backers, to ensure the displays continued over Bournemouth's seafront.

We have achieved that aim of bringing the Reds to Bournemouth almost every year since then. We also organise a 'corporate lunch' to complement the display. Local businesses are invited to support the lunch and charity auction which takes place immediately after the display. All monies raised are donated to the charity or charities chosen by the display's main backer.

We have also developed a thriving social membership. The Association meets on the second Tuesday of every month at Bournemouth Flying Club at 19:30.

The BRAA Chairman, Terry Trevett, is a master at organising interesting speakers and events. He has also, over the years, managed to arrange visits to various aircraft museums, tours of naval ships such as HMS Illustrious and HMS Invincible, tours of local air force bases, trips in old airplanes, boats etc.
